Production process

This section provides a comprehensive overview of the annual report publishing process. It covers everything from initial planning and design to producing hard copy and online versions.

2

Design

When designing your report, we consider both the visual materials, such as images, graphic elements, and templates, as well as the text elements you'll be incorporating. This ensures a cohesive and visually appealing final product.

3

Typesetting

Typesetting is crucial in annual reports, and this section guides you on how to supply your final text and images, including but not limited to graphs, figures, logos and any financial statements.

4

Content Submission

Use this checklist to ensure you have covered all requirements and are supplying all the necessary information your graphic designer will need when typesetting your report.

5

Supplying Revisions

The designer will check the PDF proof before it’s sent to you. However, you’ll need to check it very carefully to make sure it’s accurate. We have included some tips for proofreading, as well as a checklist of design and text items to be checked.

6

Printing & Tabling

Once your report is ready for printing, we will provide a copy of our approval form for signing. We will then prepare the finished artwork and printed proofs for the preferred printer. This section also outlines the printing requirements.

7

Accessibility

All Australian Government departments must make their annual reports publicly accessible and inclusive for people with disabilities. This section provides knowledge on the accessibility requirements for your report and how we can help meet those standards.

8

Publishing

We can help out with substantive editing, copyediting and publishing to the Transparency Portal. The Australian Government requires use of the Digital Annual Reporting Tool (DART) for publishing the report to transparency.gov.au.
