Summary
Spilt into two separate Courts (Division 1 and 2), the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) exists with an efficient administrative structure. FCFCOA Division 1 is a specialist family law court, while Division 2 has broad federal jurisdiction in family law, migration, fair work, bankruptcy, intellectual property, consumer law, human rights, and administrative law. The FCFCOA overall have implemented significant internal reforms to focus on fair, efficient processes to resolve disputes safely and efficiently, prioritising minimising risk and harm to children and vulnerable parties.
Giraffe was approached to assist in one of the most extensive federal court reports produced in 2024-25. It required careful coordination of dual-division content streams, extensive statistical presentation and a cohesive visual system to clearly differentiate jurisdictions while maintaining a unified national identity. The 340 page document was structured into nine parts, including jurisdictional statistics covering family law performance and median time to finalisation, appellate jurisdiction performance, and extensive figures, charts and tables illustrating trends, mediation outcomes, risk screening data and registry-level performance.
